The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Teaser Is Here, Revealing Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Actors
Nintendo and Illumination unveiled the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. The reveal happened in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that focused exclusively on the upcoming animated film.
The follow-up to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will transport Mario to the distant reaches of the galaxy. Along the way, he discovers a new princess and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
An Interstellar Journey Based on Classic Games
In the vein of the Wii-era games that act as its source material, Mario will venture away from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. During his grand adventure, he will meet again some recognizable characters, including the Luma, a fan favorite from the original cinematic release.
But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who apparently commands metallic abilities. Notably, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also includes nods to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Come Back and Grow
The feature will welcome back of the original voice cast, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. It was announced by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
Mario's Major Moment
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is planned to debut close to the four-decade milestone of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 promises to be a significant year for Mario and his allies.
Nintendo confirmed three new games officially announced for that year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Premiere Date Announced
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
