Woman Knifed in Birmingham City Bus Shelter Assault Succumbs to Injuries
The female victim who was stabbed to her neck area in an unprovoked attack at a bus stop within Birmingham has died, police have confirmed.
The victim, aged 34 years, came under attack in Smallbrook Queensway, right beside the Bullring shopping centre, just prior to 21:00 GMT on Friday, West Midlands Police said.
The suspect, 21, appeared before Birmingham court Monday morning, charged over the violent incident.
Originally charged with attempted murder but following the woman's death charges were upgraded to include murder.
Law Enforcement Actions
Authorities stated police personnel will remain around the city centre on Monday to offer reassurance, and investigators were supporting the victim's relatives.
Investigators are requesting any eyewitnesses who might have observed Mr Rafael, who is described as British citizen of Black ethnicity, and is believed to have been wearing grey athletic wear, black hat, athletic shoes with a backpack.

The stabbing happened outside the Bullring shopping centre, across from the main entrance to Birmingham New Street station.
Police said they were treating it as a random violent act and Det Insp James Nix said efforts continue to determine why it happened.
Eyewitness Reports
Shalini Doal, employed in the vicinity, described the emergency response after completing her shift at about 22:00 on Friday.
She characterized the location as extremely disorderly, adding that some of her colleagues heard loud disturbances at about 21:00.
"A lot of my colleagues use transit services, ride the tramline... our security is compromised essentially, here in the city centre."
Another individual, twenty-five, resident of Stoke, said he came to Birmingham fairly regularly visiting his partner resident there, and was concerned regarding the incident.
"It makes me worried for my girlfriend," he stated.
"She doesn't drive employed at major concert locations... and to think a totally random act [happened], you know, it's horrible."
